"The Leaves" is a contemporary architectural project located on the Albanian Riviera, in an area where mountain and sea intersect, embracing the natural beauty of the Mediterranean relief and landscape. The project embraces the idea of harmony between man and nature, focusing on a construction that respects the geography, light, materials and emotions that arise from this unique place.
Concept and Philosophy
This project is built on the idea of "reading the territory" without deforming nature, avoiding the common mistakes of artificial interventions. It aims to create a space that is not only functional, but also nourishes the soul and body through deep contact with natural elements – light, water, vegetation and sounds.
The architectural intervention is based on in-depth analyses of the terrain shape, which allow the building to blend perfectly with the surrounding environment. The construction consists of two volumes that rotate around each other to better reflect the Mediterranean light. The facades are designed with simple and rhythmic geometric shapes, with a play of light and shadow that creates interaction with nature.
Structure and Materials
The building's elements are designed to reflect natural form and light – like tree leaves swaying in the wind. The horizontal and vertical sections of the structure are divided into 5 tones that reflect the colors of nature in the four seasons. Prefabricated elements are used to lighten the structure, making it visually permeable and light.
The blocks are organized in a neat and thoughtful manner to be functional, but also to offer a sensory and aesthetic experience for the residents. Each apartment enjoys direct access to the surrounding nature, with abundant light and open views.
Approach to sustainability
One of the main pillars of the project is sustainability. “The Leaves” uses architectural strategies to minimize environmental impact, avoiding complicated technologies and aiming for a simple, natural and efficient solution.
Symbolism and Form
The square shape of the buildings is not a random choice, but a metaphor for stability and order in a wild and unpredictable terrain. The rotation of the blocks in the plan symbolizes the movement of the leaves and the spirit of the place – a poetic expression of a building that becomes part of the landscape and that speaks with it, not over it.
